Assam government has initiated a series of measures to achieve 100 percent enrollment of girls in class ninth and tenth under Rashtriya Madhamik Siksha Abhiyan by 2017. Official sources said, Assam at present has recorded 52 percent Gross Enrollment against the national average of 46 percent. In a bid to increase the girls’ enrollment to 100 percent, 81, 100 bedded girls hostel would be set up in educationally backward blocks.

This would provide an opportunity to those students who need to travel long distance to attain school. Apart from it, proposals have also been taken to construct girls’ activity room and toilet blocks in secondary schools. A 2 days Counseling Camp on professional studies for 1000 BPL Meritorious Girls is being organized in Dhemaji, Dhubri, Hailaknadi and Kokrajhar district to streamline their future studies.
