The Andhara Pradesh government has decided to set up 15 marine police stations along its coastline in addition to the existing six ones. The decision has been taken in a bid to beef up security along the 974 km long coastline of the state. The government has also decided to appoint special police officers in oastal villagesc. Police sources said marine police will conduct patrolling in deep sea within their jurisdiction in coordination with the Coast Guard, but SPOs will play a major role and keep a constant watch on the coastline activities in their villages.

Mr. Shinde said the communal colour given to the recent ethnic violence in Assam was unfortunate and noted that the motivated online rumours were evidence of terrorists resorting to cyber space. He urged the security forces should develop skills in the cyber domain to not only locate the malicious content, but also identify those responsible. Speaking on the occasion, Intelligence Bureau Director Nehchal Sandhu said, Bangalore arrests show vulnerability of youth to radicalisation. Mr Sandhu said, attack on Israeli envoy shows India's vulnerability to become playground for global terrorism . The Home minister also gave away awards to meritorious policemen.

 Delhi police has launched a scheme called Yuva to stop youngsters especially from economically weaker sections of society from entering the crime world. Under the scheme police officials will reach out to Capital's youths to provide them vocational training and guide them on competitive exam preparations. 

The police will also conduct other activities including sports and painting workshops to keep street children and young adults gainfully engaged and acquire life skills to become good citizens. The scheme ‘Yuva' will also help them get jobs.

AIR correspondent reports that the Delhi Development Authority has provided 11 playgrounds to the police in different areas in the city close to slums for this scheme.

entre has asked all state governments to conduct programs to sensitise their police and administration on providing security to the senior citizens. In a letter addressed to all the Chief Ministers, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Mukul Wasnik has also asked the states to create awareness for ensuring financial security and stability of senior citizens and ensuring availability of facilities of reverse mortgage of property to ensure regular income for them. The Minister suggested that the states organise these programs with involvement of Panchayati Raj Institutions, municipal bodies, Nehru Yuva Kendras, educational institutions and NGOs for maximum benefits to the senior citizens.

The results of the written part of Indian Police Service Limited Competitive examination have been declared. The results are available on the UPSC website -www.upsc.gov.in. An official release says, the Ministry of Home Affairs will intimate the successful candidates about the date, time and venue of the medical examination to be conducted by them. The tentative date for personality test is from the 6th of next month.

AIR Correspondent reports that the move to recruit IPS officers through limited competitive examination was taken by Home Minister P Chidambaram after finding a large number of vacancies in various cadres of IPS, which has been hampering the functioning of police forces.

upreme Court has criticized the Centre for not implementing its orders on banning the use of tinted(हलका रंग चढ़ाना) glass on vehicles. 

The apex court yesterday slammed the authorities for only targeting the middle class and sparing the elite class from removing the black tints() from their car windows. 

It said only middle class people are suffering and Upper class people are not at all affected. The Additional Solicitor General then assured the court that he will convey the message to the Delhi Police and direct them to implement the order.

The Supreme Court had banned the use of tinted glass from June 4 this year, restricting visions beyond permissible limit in vehicles as fixed under the Motor Vehicles Act. However, the top court had exempted government vehicles for security purposes.

Andhra Pradesh state Government today suspended a senior IPS officer, Umesh Kuamar of 1977 batch for absconding from the duties. Chief Secretary Pankaj Dwivedi has issued orders to this effect. Umesh Kumar, who is the Chairman of a Police Cooperative housing Society, is facing charges for alleged forgery of the signature of a Rajya Sabha Member, M A Khan. 

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of a Hyderabad court has issued non-bailable warrant against him asking him to appear before the court in connection with the forgery case. The state Crime Investigation Department has registered a case against the IPS officer and filed a charge sheet that the forgery was established. 

The state Government has suspended him from the services after finding the IPS officer absconding from his house and also from his office.

The CAT also directed the state Government to send a new list of senior most IPS officers to UPSC in a week for appointing a new DGP. Gautam Kumar's counsel Sudhir told reporters that the CAT has asked the government to complete the process of appointing a new police chief within three weeks. Gautam Kumar alleged that the state Government has ignored his seniority violating even the Supreme Court orders.

This is the second time that Gautam Kumar has challenged the appointment of the DGP(directorate) in the CAT.

The boat capsized last evening in the river due to a heavy storm at Burha-Burhi Char under Fakirganj police station in Dhubri district.

Over 200 people are still reported missing in the boat carrying over 300 passengers. Our Correspondent reports that four persons have been rescued. Army, BSF, Police and National Disaster Response Force are continuing their joint rescue operation.

In Assam, security forces today arrested four hardcore Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) militants from Bormahara area under Krishnai Police Station in Goalpara district. Acting on a tip off, Army and Police launched a joint operation in the area and arrested all of them when they werein a meeting at a house to plan subversive activities on Assam-Meghalaya border. Security forces recovered two pistols and some ammunition from the arrested militants. The militants are being interrogated in Krishnai Police Station.

The Bombay High Court on Monday issued a notice to Board of Control for Cricket in India, BCCI seeking reply to a PIL alleging the board's failure to pay over 5 crore rupees to police for security provided for Indian Premier League matches played at Navi Mumbai in the 2010 season.

A division bench of Chief Justice Mohit Shah and Justice N M Jamdar was hearing the PIL, which claimed that the BCCI, owed more than 5 crore rupees to Navi Mumbai police.

According to the petition, during the 2010 edition of IPL, six matches were played at the D Y Patil stadium between 12th of March and 25th of April and in all, 3,345 police personnel were deployed at the stadium.

The petition has sought direction to the police to recover the arrears, and argued that till then no security should be provided for the IPL matches to be played in Mumbai in this season.

The bench after issuing notice to BCCI has posted the matter for hearing on Wednesday.

In Karnataka, an FIR is registered against former Karnataka Lokyukta Justice N Santosh Hegde and Criminal Investigation Department Chief R K Dutta by police on Thursday. The FIR was filed based on a complaint by IPS officer Hemant Nimbalkar that false allegations were made against him by Justice Hegde and Datta during their tenure in Lokayuktha office earlier, thereby causing acute mental agony.

He has charged that both Justice Hegde and Dutta had levelling false charges against him on possessing assets worth 250 crore rupees after Lokayukta officials conducted raids at his office and residence in 2009. Nimbalkar who is a Deputy Inspector General (Internal Security) now was exonerated by the Lokayuktha court, after the police filed a B report for want of sufficient evidence.
