Bangladesh and Bhutan on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in Agriculture between the two countries. Bangladesh's Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury and visiting Bhutanese Agriculture and Forests Minister Lyonpo Dr. Pema Gyamtsho signed the MoU at the Bangladesh Secretariat in Dhaka on behalf of their respective governments.

Bangladesh's Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury said the MOU will facilitate technical cooperation in the field of agriculture and also enable promotion of technology transfer between Bangladesh and Bhutan. Bhutanese Agriculture and Forest's Minister Lyonpo Pema Gyamtsho is leading a five member delegation from
his country which is on a five day tour to Bangladesh. During their visit, the Bhutanese delegation is also scheduled to visit Bangladesh Agriculture Research Council, seed centre of Bangladesh Agriculture
Development Corporation at Gazipur, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute and Bangladesh Academy of Rural Development at Comilla.

Assam government has decided to move the Centre for seeking its permission for construction of an alternative road from West Bengal’s Alipurduwar to Tenga in West Kameng district . Responding to a zero hour discussion, PWD Minister Chowna Mein told the House that state government will definitely take it up with the Prime Minister and the Ministry of External Affairs for getting clearance for construction of the said road.

He said that the proposed road would not only help Arunachal to transport machineries required for the power projects but would also be a boon towards opening border trade routes with Bhutan.
