Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched India's first High quality Video Call Office (VCO) in Ahmedabad.

With this launch, the BSNL has become the first Telecom Service Provider in the country to take such an initiative to offer high quality Video calling service to the common man.

After launching the new BSNL initiative, Sam Pitroda, Advisor to The Prime Minister on Public Information Infrastructure and Innovations, said this is an unique initiative which can bridge the gap between Urban and Rural India. He said this will be a platform for growth as this network is ideal for applications like Job interviews, Tele-medicine, Tele-education .

Mr. Pitroda said this service can bring people face to face with many other cities and towns without travel.

n Haryana, BSNL is in the process of adding eight lakh new Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) lines in Faridabad, Gurgaon, Sonepat and Rohtak towns to meet the growing demand of telephones . The project is likely to be completed during the year 2012-13.Chief General Manager, BSNL, Ambala, Mr G.K.Upadhyay said that Haryana Telecom Circle caters to a population of over 2.56 crore including Panchkula. There are more than 2.33 crore telecom connections of all operators and those of BSNL are over 35.42 lakh. While the tele density of BSNL is 13.60 per cent, that of all operators is 91.15 per cent.
