Nigeria's senate on Wednesday renewed its call for dialogue with the country's militant group as key to a lasting resolution of crises flaring across the country. Senate president David Mark who spearheaded the call urged all the parties involved in the bloodletting(रक्तपात) recorded across the northern part of Nigeria to toe the path of peace, bury their hatchets and give room for the dialogue as soon as possible. He said once there is dialogue, people will be able to speak out their minds. Mark pleaded all those who have small arms and weapons at their disposal should surrender them and allow the security agencies to take charge of security.

Reports from Nigeria say, there have been bomb attacks on at least three churches in the northern state of Kaduna. Two blasts hit the northern Nigerian city of Zaria, according to local emergency services. They did not give any reports of casualties.

Last week the radical Islamist group Boko Haram attacked two church services, sparking violence which killed seven people. Hundreds have died in its previous attacks on churches.

n Nigeria, at least 40 people have been killed in a boundary clash between two local communities of the southeastern states. A local government official today said the clashes took place last Wednesday as residents from Ntan Obu-Ukpe in Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River and Ikpanya Community in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom started a fight over land right disputes.

The Chairman of Odukpani Council, Mr. Stephen Asuquo said the entire village has been destroyed and burnt down and there is no house standing there. Asuquo called on the federal government to act on the judgment of the Supreme Court of June 24, 2005, which demarcated the boundary between Cross River and Akwa Ibom.

Nigeria has a population of 167 million and disputes about land and the ensuing violence has long been a headache for the Nigerian government, who is struggling to fight the rampant Boko Haram militants in the north.
