The authorities in the Pakistani city of Lahore have renamed a roundabout after freedom fighter Bhagat Singh to acknowledge his revolutionary spirit and his role in the movement against the erstwhile British rulers of the subcontinent. The Shadman Chowk of Lahore will now be known as Bhagat Singh Chowk, officials said. Bhagat Singh was hanged in March 1931 in the erstwhile Lahore Jail, which stood at the spot where the roundabout was built later.a road junction at which traffic streams circularly around a central island

Floral tributes were today paid to freedom fighter and former Deputy Prime Minister Babu Jagjivan Ram at his memorial 'Samta Sthal' in New Delhi on the occasion of his 26th death anniversary.

Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, Union Ministers Mukul Wasnik and D Napoleon were among eminent persons who paid homage to the leader. A 'Sarvadharm Prayer' was also organised at the Babu Jagjivan Ram Smriti Sansthan to pay homage to him.
