Government has changed the cadre of IAS officer Madhu Rani Teotia to AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram-Union Territory) as a "special case” following a request from her.

Her husband Narendra Kumar, an IPS officer of 2009-batch,was killed allegedly by mining mafia on March 8 this year in Madhya Pradesh.

Teotia, an IAS officer of 2008 batch, was earlier allocated Madhya Pradesh cadre.

According to a notification issued Tuesday by the Department of Personnel and Training, DoPT, Central Government has approved inter cadre transfer of Dr Madhu Rani Teotia, IAS (MP:08) from Madhya Pradesh cadre to AGMUT cadre, as a special case with the concurrence of Government of Madhya Pradesh and the Ministry of Home Affairs.

 In Chhattisgarh, a district and session court of today convicted a retired IAS officer M K Sarthi on the charges of rape and sentenced him for seven years rigorous imprisonment. This IAS officer
was accused of sexually exploiting an anganwadi supervisor during his tenure in Jashpur as collector in 2001.

District and sessions judge Jashpur Prabhat Kumar Shastri today sentenced him for rigorous imprisonment for seven years on the charge of rape, criminal intimidation and wrongful restraint and also slapped a fine of 10,000 Rs.

 The Centre is considering action against 127 IAS officers for failing to submit their last year's Immovable Property Returns (IPRs) to the government.

The latest data released by Department of Personnel and Training, DoPT shows that out of the total 127 IAS officers who have not submitted their property details, 32 are from Madhya Pradesh cadre, 16 from Uttar Pradesh, 14 from Punjab, 12 from Odisha cadre and remaining from other states' cadres.

The total sanctioned strength of IAS is 6,154, including 1,885 promotion posts. Of these, 4,377 officers are in position. An all-India service officer is bound to file property returns of a year by January end of the following year.
