In Myanmar, renewed sectarian violence has left three people dead, amid growing international concern about the sectarian unrest. Officials today said the new casualties were reported in Kyauktaw about 100 kilometres north of the state capital Sittwe.

Five others were reported wounded. Official figures show, the fighting in western Rakhine state has killed 80 people since June, although authorities say the situation has been generally calm in recent weeks.

The violence initially broke out following the rape and murder of a Rakhine woman and the subsequent lynching(putting a person to death by mob action without due process of law) of 10 Rohingya by a crowd of angry Rakhine. The entire state has been under emergency rule since early June with a heavy army and police presence.
