In Nepal, UCPN(Maoist ) Chairman Puspha Kamal Dahal has said that there is greater need for the political parties to come together to find a way out of the presents political crisis that the is facing the country. Addressing a public meeting in the capital today, Mr. Dahal said he has again called the leaders of the political parties urging for talks. He urged the dissident faction to sit for talks and not split the party saying a this juncture the UCPN ( maoist) should stay united. Saying that there was no option but to call for fresh elections , Mr Dahal said the political parties can sit for talks taking the issues that were settled before the Constituent Assembly was dissolved. However he said the political parties have to be aware the changes and cannot compromise on the issue of identity and federalism . Addressing the meeting Party Vice Chairman and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai said he is ready to step down immediately if the move saves his party from splitting and serves interests of the people. He said that it was major mistake on the part of the political parties to leaves the issue of federalism till the end and no consensus was reached leading to the dissolving of the Constituent Assembly . He said there was no democratic option other that going for fresh polls and to save the country for a political vacuum, the elections were announced. The public meeting of the UCPN ( Maoist ) establishment faction was held today as the anti establishment faction led by party’s Chairman Mohan Baidya stayed away from the meeting. On the other hand, the Baidya faction of the party is making preparations for its national gathering to be held in capital tomorrow. Party Vice-chairman Baidya, who leads the faction, is scheduled to present his political report on contemporary issues during the gathering to be attended by members of the party´s various state committees across the country

In Nepal, Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has pledged to establish a fund to fight against the impact of Climate change in the mountainous countries. Inaugurating a program in Kathmandu today on the occasion of the World Environment Day , he renewed his commitment to make a common forum for implementation of the declaration named 'Kathmandu Call for Action'. 

Earlier in the month of April ,a two-day International Conference of Mountain Countries on Climate Change issued a 10-point charter for preserving and protecting ecology and environment in the mountainous countries. Mr Bhattarai said Nepal would strongly pitch for sustainable development, economic prosperity and environment conservation and balance in the Rio+20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development to be held Rio de Janeiro of Brazil from 20-22 June.


A number of programmes were held to mark the occasion with a cycle rally by students , cleaning of the Bagmati river in the capital, awareness programs , setting up of herbal garden by various organizations working in the field of environment .
