The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is in the process of seeking Cabinet approval on financial restructuring of Prasar Bharati. Minister of Information and Broadcasting Ambika Soni said this in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today. She said Prasar Bharati has been facing various financial and administrative issues since its inception. This has hampered its smooth functioning. But the long-standing issue regarding the status of its employees has since been settled. All officers and employees who were regularly recruited upto October 05, 2007 have been placed on deemed deputation till retirement with all benefits on par with the Government servants. The personnel recruited afterwards will be Prasar Bharati employees, Mrs. Soni said.

The Prasar Bharati South Zone Coordination meeting will be held in Bangalore tomorrow. Senior officers from Prasar Bharati and media heads from Akashwani and Doordarshan working in South India will participate in the meeting.
This is part of the series of meetings being held in all the zones in the country to discuss issues of importance that need coordination among the news section,Engineering, programme and marketing side.
The Chief Executive Officer of Prasar Bharati Mr.Jawhar Sircar, Member (Finance) Mr.A K Jain, DG(AIR) Mr.L D Mandloi, DG(News) of AIR Mr.G Mohanty among other top officers will take part in the meeting to be held for a day.

The National Broadcasting Corporation, the Prasar Bhrati is considering to institute an award for upholding the values of Public Service Broadcasting.
Inaugurating the Eastern Zonal Cordination meeting of AIR and Doordarshan in Kolkata Monday morning the Chief Executive Officer of Prasar Bhrati Jawhar Sircar said that, the award will be given to those who have not been awarded by these Institutions so far.
Mr. Sircar said that, AIR and Doordarshan have to meet the technological challenges to improve its programmes contents.
He said that, a separate Rectuitment Board of the Prasar Bhrati will be set up soon after geeting approval of the Rectuitment Rules by the Union Cabinet.

he Chief Exectuvie Officer of Prasar Bharti Mr. Jawhar Sircar has said that All India Radio and Doordarshan have to meet the technical challenges to improve its programme quantum.
Inaugurating the Eastern Zonal Coordination meeting in Kolkata this morning, Mr. Sircar said that a separate recruitment board of Prasar Bharti will be set up soon after getting approval of the recruitment rules by the Union Cabinet.
He said that Prasar Bharti recruit 3,500 personnel in different cagegories in first phase to fill up the vacant posts.
