Nepal is to receive five million dollars from the United Nations Central Emergency Relief Fund. UN Resident and Humanitarian co-coordinator in Nepal, Robert Piper has said the timely allocation from the Central Emergency Fund will help address some of the urgent humanitarian needs of the most vulnerable communities in the country.
The grant to Nepal is part of the overall allocation of 104 million dollars from the Central Emergency Fund to bolster humanitarian operations in neglected humanitarian emergencies around the world. The funds will support three major activities managed by the UN Children’s fund, the World Health organization, the UN Settlements Programme, World Food Programme and the Food and Agriculture Organization.
According to a press release Nepal has received 28.6 million dollars from the UN Central Emergency Response Fund since the inception of the fund in 2006.
