Nation is paying tributes to Saheed Udham Singh on his 73rd martyrdom day today. He was hanged on July 31st 1940 in London for assassination of Michael O’Dyer who had ordered massacre of Jallian Wala Bagh, Amriitsar on April 13,1919.Udham Singh described the assassination as an avenge of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre.

The Indian Olympic Association, IOA named former hockey captain Ajitpal Singh as Chef-de-Mission of national contingent for the London Olympics.
Three time Olympian Ajitpal, who led the country to its only victory in the World cup in 1975 so far, is the first active sports person to be honoured by being appointed as Chef-de-Mission of the Olympic contingent.
He said he was confident that Ajitpal will live up to the high expectations, and will be a true ambassador of the country.
