Andhra Pradesh state Government today suspended a senior IPS officer, Umesh Kuamar of 1977 batch for absconding from the duties. Chief Secretary Pankaj Dwivedi has issued orders to this effect. Umesh Kumar, who is the Chairman of a Police Cooperative housing Society, is facing charges for alleged forgery of the signature of a Rajya Sabha Member, M A Khan. 

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of a Hyderabad court has issued non-bailable warrant against him asking him to appear before the court in connection with the forgery case. The state Crime Investigation Department has registered a case against the IPS officer and filed a charge sheet that the forgery was established. 

The state Government has suspended him from the services after finding the IPS officer absconding from his house and also from his office.
