 he cost of travel on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway in a month will soon come down. An official release says, the local traffic will get 50 per cent concession for personal traffic and 33 per cent for commercial one. Thus, the cost of monthly pass for local traffic will be reduced by one-third.

This will enable more and more user public of local traffic to take monthly passes and avail concessions which will help in reducing the congestion at toll plazas due to less cash transactions. The revised scheme is to be implemented within 15 days. An MoU to this effect was signed between the National Highways Authority of India and the parties developing the project.

The release adds that a cheaper touch card technology at a nominal price will also be introduced. In order to reduce congestion at the toll plazas, additional 11 lanes will be provided at 24 kilometres and additional four lanes at 42 kilometres in a phased manner.

Apart from this, modifications will be made at entry and exit locations on the project highway for safe and smooth movement of traffic. For improving traffic management, surveillance and safety, CCTV cameras will be installed on the entire project highway along with a control room equipped with a video wall to view all camera images.
