The Rajasthan Government will provide laptops to meritorious students. 70 Cr Rs would be spent on this Rajiv Gandhi Digital Vidyarthi scheme this year. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced this scheme in his budget speech and education department has started working on it.
According to education department meritorious students would get laptops and learning laptops in next six months. 20 thousand laptops will be provided to first 10000 students according to Rajasthan Board merit of 10th and 12th classes and 24000 learning laptops will be given to the toppers of 8th class of all govt schools.
Education department has constituted a committee to procure these laptops. This decision will benefit students of rural areas where availability of computer facility is still less.
