Mumbai Police has registered a case of accidental death after three persons died in the massive fire in the Maharashtra state secretariat last evening.The Marine Lines police have registered a case in the incident and are investigating the matter.
Forensic experts have visited the site as part of an inquiry being conducted by police.They collected samples from the spot for probing the cause of the blaze.
Meanwhile one more body was recovered by fire brigade officials this morning from the sixth floor of the building, taking the toll in the incident to three.Sixteen others sustained injuries in the raging fire. The injured persons have been admitted to various hospitals.
The massive blaze at the state secretariat building has been doused after 12 hours this morning, However, fire brigade officials sa the cooling operation will continue for the next two days. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar visited Mantralaya this morning.
Talking to reporters, he said that the chief minister's cabin on the sixth floor had remained comparatively untouched by the fire which had gutted nearby offices.
The death toll in the fire tragedy has risen to five. Three more bodies were recovered today. Maharashtra CM Prithvi Raj Chavan said that 2 lakh 27 files have already been scanned and efforts are on to recover data from the computer hard disk. He also informed that all tha files relating to the Adarsh scam are safe with CBI. |
