In Uttar Pradesh, the monsoon rain lashed some more places in eastern and terai region on Saturday afternoon. The people felt relief from intense heatwave that was tormenting the entire state for past one month.

Shimla and various parts of Himachal Pradesh were also lashed by showers and thunderstorm leading to a sharp decline in temperatures. Temperature in the state capital dropped by six notches to settle at 22 deg C. Kumarsen was wettest in the region with 30 mm of rains while Baijnath recorded 26 mm rains. The local MeT office has predicted rains or thunderstorm at isolated places during next 24 hours with marginal fall in mercury.

In Karnataka also, monsoon has intensified in few districts. The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre report says that monsoon is normal in 12 districts and weak in 18 districts of the state. Our correspondent reports that Dakshin Kannada, Udupi, Chickmagalur, Uttara Kannada and parts of Belgaum in north Karnataka received normal rain.
