In Nepal, President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has urged the political parties to come together and resolve the current political crisis following the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly. The President on Sunday hosted a reception in his residence at Shital Niwas in Kathmandu for leaders of 25 political parties.

Urging the political leaders to understand the gravity of the present situation, the President asked them to act responsibly and find a way out of the current crisis.

Speaking to media-persons after the meeting, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said that the President was concerned about the present political situation. Mr. Dahal said that he assured the President, as a leader of the largest political party, he had been taking initiatives to hold parleys with other parties to end the political stalemate. 

While Rashtriya Prajantra Party Leader, Kamal Thapa said, there should be consultations with smaller parties also as the bigger parties had failed to bring the new Constitution, leading to collapse of the Constituent Assembly.

AIR correspondent reports, while President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has urged forth the political parties to come together and resolve the present crisis , the polarization between the opposition and the ruling parties seem increasing.

The Opposition has been demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Bhattarai as a way forward. In a program Nepali Congress leader Mirendra Rijjal on Sunday hit out on the Prime minister’s forthcoming tour to attend the Rio summit saying if he was serious he said Prime Minister Bhattari would not be leaving the country but sorting out issues to be sorted out regain the amendment to the constitution on holding the elections.

While Prime Minister, Bhattarai’s political adviser Devendra Poudyal said that if consensus candidate is there the Prime Minister will step down. However the fallout of the Constituent Assembly being dissolved without promulgating the new constitution has also hit within the parties.

The Maoist party seems to be one verge of splitting, while the establishment faction said they are willing to hold talks and discussions. The anti -establishment faction led by Party Vice Chairman Mohan Baidya has continued to hold it separate meeting and may announce the launching of a new party soon.
