Haryana government Saturday ordered sealing of the Apna Ghar shelter home at Rohtak. The government has been under pressure to act after the findings of a High Court team probe. The report revealed shocking details of women and children being gangraped and physically tortured. The victims told High Court team that they were kept naked, raped, tortured and forced into prostitution. They alleged that even government and police officials, who were supposed to protect these girls, cruelly exploited them. The victims recounted horror of how they were allegedly stripped and filmed by foreign visitors.

The report names the shelter's caretaker and several police officials too. High Court appointed Committee has asked for a CBI probe into the case. Teams from the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights and the National Commission of Women are also visiting Haryana to meet the over 100 inmates, who have been shifted to several other shelter homes in the state.


Earlier, the state's Women and Child Welfare Minister promised to rehabilitate victims and book all culprits.
