Haryana Government has formulated a policy to provide affordable houses to the families living Below the Poverty Line. Stating this today at chandigarh, Minister for Housing, Mr Satpal Sangwan said that under this policy private colonizers in the licenced area would transfer 50 per cent plots of the size of 50 sq meter meant for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) to the Housing Board at a subsidized rate of 500 rupees per sq. yd. for construction of flats for BPL families.

He said that Director General, Town and Country Planning, Haryana has sofar identified 10,000 plots to be transferred to the Board throughout the State and possession of 4493 plots has already been taken over by the Haryana Housing Board. He said that construction work of 6957 flats on 2319 balance plots would be taken up during the financial year 2012-2013 after floating the registration of these flats.

He said that Housing Board is constructing 11,633 houses of different categories including 6044 houses forBPL families , 1692 houses for Economically Weaker Sections and 404 houses for Lower Income Group. He said that construction of these houses is in progress at Yamunanagar, Karnal, Narwana, Kurukshetra, Panipat, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad, Ratia, Hansi, Bahaudrgarh, Sirsa, Sonepat, Gurgaon, Bawal, Dharuhera, Narnaul, Rewari, Faridabad, Palwal, Barhi and Sisoth in district Mohindergarh.
