China today sought to dispel the impression that it is averse to seeing India step up engagement with resource-rich Myanmar. It said, Beijing will be happy to see New Delhi and Nay Pyi Daw developing their relations as it would help regional stability.

Asked for China's reaction to Prime Minister's Manmohan Singh's visit to Myanmar and reports in official media that China and India are competing each other to reach out to Myanmar's energy resources, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman

Liu Weimin told a press briefing in Beijing that Beijing likes to see the their ties develop further. He said, both India and Myanmar are China's friendly neighbours. China is happy to see the development relations between them.
