Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has asked the Deputy Commissioners of the districts to ensure timely implementation of welfare schemes meant for uplift of common people besides accelerating the pace of development. Addressing the valedictory programme of the two-day review meeting of Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police at Guwahati today, the Chief Minister urged them ensure proper utilisation of funds and review the progress of each and every scheme.
He called upon the district authorities to accord top priority to total sanitation campaign, supply of drinking water and health-related issues like infant and maternal mortality rates in which Assam is lagging behind.
