Western nations and Arab countries have ramped up pressure on Syrian President Bashar Al Assad to implement UN peace plan. US Secretary Of State, Hillary Clinton told a press conference in Istanbul that it is high time, the Syrian regime stop killings or be ready to face serious consequences.
Arab League and Friends of Syria, a group of 83 nations and multilateral agencies, have asked the UN Special envoy to set a deadline for Syrian regime to implement his six point peace mission. Annan is scheduled to brief UN Security Council via a video link from Geneva. He will report to the Council the developments after his meetings with President Assad, Russian and Chinese leaders.
