Media reports quoting a local official said, heavy rain for three days followed by massive floods, caused civilian casualties in Borka, Nahrin and Dahnai Ghori districts and destroyed nearly 1,500 acres of agricultural land. More than 200 houses have destroyed and many families have become homeless. Eastern Nangarhar province has also experienced heavy rains and floods.

Meanwhile, the Nangarhar Natural Disaster Response Department has said that aid agencies are ready to help all those affected. Afghan President Hamid Karzai has expressed his condolences for the families of the victims and called on the aid agencies to provide them with emergency aid.
