The Rajasthan Government has decided to provide electricity connections in remote desert areas through solar power plants. Energy Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh today informed the state assembly that this decision will reduce the deficit of electricity companies. He said that providing each electricity connection in Barmer and Jaisalmer district costs 50 thousand to 1 lakh 25 thousand rupees while companies are charging only 2500 rupees per horse power from the farmers. He said that 25 thousand connections from the solar power plants have been given in these areas so far. Dr. Singh informed that electricity companies are in 38248 Crore rupees deficit and many steps have been taken to reduce the deficit. He was replying during question hour.
