nternational Labour Day, also known as May Day, is being observed across the globe today. The Day is observed in memory of labourers, who had sacrificed their lives in the 1860s in US city of Chicago, for obtaining their rights to get better working condtitons.

On this day, workers renew their pledge of securing basic working rights. May 1 is a Public holiday in more than 80 countries. Rallies and marches are being organised to mark the occasion.
