Mild tremors were felt today in Mumbai and other parts of Western Maharashtra and Konkan following an earthquake of magnitude 4.9 on the Richter Scale.
Tremors were also felt in Kutch district of Gujarat. No damage to life and property has been reported so far. Sources in the Met department in Mumbai said, the Koyna dam in Satara is safe.
Scientists at Institute of Seismological Research in Ahmedabad said, 4.1 magnitude earthquake had its epicentre at Vayka taluka in Kutch, which is an active fault line. After shocks measuring 2.9 on the Richter scale were also felt.
