In Nepal, leaders of the main three parties, UCPN(Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and the Madhesi alliance, Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha have been holding crucial round of discussions to resolve the disputes seen in the constitution drafting. The talks which began yesterday on the outskirts of the capital Kathmandu is expected to resolve the contentious issues relating to the federal structure, restructuring of the state, type of governance and judicial system.
The top leaders of the three major parties, including Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, Maoist chief Prachanda, Nepali Congress president Sushil Koirala and CPN-UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal, and Madhesi leaders have been holding talks. With major issues of the peace process resolved, the parties are trying to settle issues on the constitution drafting for which the deadline expires on May 27th.
