In Nepal, a group of constituent Assembly members stage a dharna in front of the meeting hall of the Constitutional Committee at Singha Darbar, the government secretariat on Monday, while a meeting was underway.
Around seventy members from different parties allowed the members of the Constitutional members to go in for the meeting but prevented them from leaving early. The agitating Constituent Assembly have been pressurizing the senior leaders to start serious discussions so that the new constitution is promulgated by May 27.
The 63-member Constitutional Committee is represented by the senior leaders of the parties in the Constituent Assembly.
The committee, which is responsible for preparing the final draft of the constitution, had a preliminary discussion on the report of the State Restructuring Commission on Monday and decided to send it Dispute Resolution Sub-Committee.
The Constituent Assembly had forwarded the report to the Committee after a general debate.
