The bye-elections will be held on 12th June for Nellore Lok Sabha constituency in Andhra Pradesh and 26 Assembly segments in eight states. The Election Commission of India in a release said today that notification will be issued on the 18th of next month. The last date for filing nominations will be 25th while last date for withdrawal will be 28th of May.

In Andhra Pradesh, the bye election was necessitated for Nellore Lok Sabha seat following resignation by the sitting member and due to disqualification of sitting members in 18 Assembly constituencies.
Meanwhile, the Chief Electoral Officer of Andhra Pradesh, Bhanwar Lal said, the state Government should stop the ongoing Prajapatham, the mass contact programme, in the 12 election bound districts immediately as the model code of conduct has come into force. Over 44 lakh voters in 12 districts of the state will be taking part in the bye-elections.
