The government today said the proposal to set up National Environment Assessment and Monitoring Authority (NEAMA) has not yet been finalised.
Replying to questions, Environment and Forests Minister Jayanthi Natarajan said NEAMA earlier known as National Environment Protection Authority with domain expertise, technological finesse and field outreach in order to strengthen and professionalise the regimes of environment impact assessment and coastal management is yet to be finalised.
In reply to another question, she informed that the Central Pollution Control Board and State Pollution Control Boards of North-Eastern region have taken action against violating industrial units.
