Union Home Minister P Chidambaram said the Central government would take all necessary steps to accommodate development needs of Jammu and Kashmir, including twin districts of Leh and Kargil in Ladakh region.Chidambaram was speaking at 'Jashn-en -Kashmir', a
mega project in Kargil to impart training to youth of Jammu and Kashmir
in the folk culture and art of the state
. He said work on Zojila tunnel connecting Kargil and Drass with Kashmir would be started soon and a proposal was under active consideration to start commercial air services to
Kargil.

dambaram reviewed overall security situation in Jammu and Kashmir last evening in Srinagar at the end of his day long visit to the state. The state Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and senior Police and Civil officers attended the meeting in which all aspects of situation including vigil on Line of Control, LoC, and security arrangements for forthcoming Amarnath Yatra were discussed.
