The Lok Sabha today took up a discussion on Centre-State relations. Initiating the debate Basudeb Acharya of CPIM said that restructuring of the centre-state relations is the need of the hour. Accusing the centre of encroaching upon the powers of the state, he demanded more financial and administrative autonomy to states.
Manish Tiwari of Congress said that UPA government has transferred more funds to the state in comparison to earlier government. He also strongly favored the setting up of NCTC. Ananth Kumar of BJP alleged that Congress is not in favor of democracy. He alleged that anti-terrorism laws of Gujrat, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh are still awaiting the nod of the centre. The discussion remained inconclusive today.
